DEFINING LIFESTYLE IN UTOPIA

Apart from food, i was thinking of depicting the utopian lifestyle in plastopia whereby plastic consumes and makes up everything. Was looking at several ways i could manipulate the plastics.

1) Crochet? Inspired by the crochet ladies as well as helle jorgensen whereby they make yarns out of bags. Presenting the donut :)

2) Perhaps the slight heating of plastic to create the plastic food like we see at restaurants?

The main idea was to create something fun and playful out of plastics.

Hair dryer. Experimented with melting plastic on plastic. Apart from food, he disposable items are a large part of our lifestyle too

The disposed material was the result of plastic’s ability to be synthesized and shaped simultaneously in the polymerization process, resulting in proliferation of plastic goods. The arrival of the versatile material has freed us from the confines of materials constraint. Producers were able to create panoply of plastic products that allowed for people of modest means to be consumers.

Inexpensive plastic provided by organic chemists from out of common elements would foster true democratization of society by ending the strife generated by scarcity of raw materials and bring about a universal material abundance.[1] Using a discarded hair dryer, straws were directly melted onto the surface of the object. The use of the vibrant colours the straws provided was to emphasize on the idea of synthesizable plastic which has led to a the production of a wide variety of good and low costs and in the process aestheticizing the discarded plastic object.
