MANIPULATING PLASTICS WITH SILICON MOULDS
Apart from the form box, Ashley also used easy cast products to create moulds for his toys.
The one mould that caught my attention was Pinkysill. It was a silicon mould. I wanted to know if it could endure the constant heating (just like silicon baking trays).
As Pinksil was a hefty investment. Ashley Lent me one of his doll head moulds which he was not using anymore for experimentation purposes.
The first attempt, i tried melting bags in the mould. Was'nt too successful as the heat would'not get through to the middle before the bag on the top was burnt and started producing fumes.
So, i sliced the mould into half and attempted to melt different plastics in it.
1) Plastic Beads : Placed into an oven for even melting
2) Some leftover plastic bits
3) Straws
Extremely surprised by the amount of details the straw captured :o
Anyways, based on this mini experimentation, i decided to order some pinkysil to play around with!
