EXPERIMENTATION ON EXISTING STYROFOAM COLLECTED (PART 1)

Collected heaps of styrofoam today. There were styrofoams from tv boxes and foam fillers for dolls.

Styrofoam appears to last forever, as it is resistant to photolysis, or the breaking down of materials by photons originating from a light source. As a result there are heaps of styrofoams choking up the ocean surfaces and shorelines.

I decided to look at ways i can work with styrofoams in the project:

Making Hard Plastic out of Acetone and styrofoam.

With response to the video, i began my own hard plastic~

Added a little food colouring for the fun of it :P The texture of the melted and acetone filled Styrofoam was gooey and mushy. I wonder if they would be suitable as glue for plastics?

The end results. After allowing the foam to dry for a day

Tried heating the hard plastic to see if they melt or react to heat.
