DECONSTRUCTION WITH BLENDER
Decided to try the idea out with a blender instead :)
Brought a household blender into my studio today to blend some common household plastics i accumulated. Mainly HDPE grade 1,2 and 5 plastics and LDPE grade 4 plastics.
Blending the plastics was a kinda fun and therapeutic process for me. So i decided to record it down haha. It was exciting to see what the pigments would look like.
One of the easiest plastics to blend were the HDPE 1 plastics, mainly the clear packagings. It resulted in a sort of crystallized looking pieces that were shiny and clear.
And the hardest to blend were the HDPE 2 plastics like milk bottles and LDPE 4 plastics like straws. However, they do produce a nice flaky edge and texture.
The next step for me was to find ways i could utilize and manipulate them. Perhaps melted with heat? Mixed with pouring mediums? Sewn or strung together?
